It is no secret, my fondness for the city I live in, my marvellous Melbourne. It is a city full of contrasts and leading lines and these factors alone make it a wonderful city to photograph.
As I made my way home from dinner at my parents I looked towards the city skyline and the lights were beckoning. The night was clear, the air was crisp, there was a pleasing level of cloud cover over the city from which her lights bounced off……….
There was nothing else for it. I simply had to pull the car over and take a photo. Good thing the tripod lives in the car. 🙂
As I only have the 50mm prime lens on my beautiful Nikon D750 I have had to ‘make do’. A zoom or wide-angle lens is still a little way off for me.
The city lights of Melbourne are less than 10km as the crow flies from where I took the photo but that distance makes things a bit challenging for a novice like myself. Thank goodness for Lightroom 5 and the ability to crop. Suddenly I had a lovely panoramic shot.
